Use the AI application agreed during onboarding. Menu labels vary by application and version, so look for MCP servers, connectors, integrations or remote tools in its current settings.
Before connecting#
Confirm that the client supports the transport and authentication method in your handoff. The managed API-key baseline has been verified over public HTTPS. Support for a remote address alone does not establish support for custom authentication headers.
Keep the endpoint and credential separate from public documents. These docs contain no working customer endpoints or keys.
Add the remote connection#
- Open your AI application's MCP connection settings.
- Add a new remote HTTP or Streamable HTTP server.
- Give it a recognisable name, such as MCP DigLab.
- Enter the exact endpoint assigned to your organisation.
- Configure the authentication method from your handoff. For the API-key setup, the request header is
X-API-Key. - Enter the credential through the client's secure input or supported secret storage.
- Save and connect. Refresh tool discovery or restart the client if its own instructions require it.
Do not append a key to the URL or paste it into an AI conversation. Do not substitute an owner or another customer's connection.
Verify the connection#
Ask the client to list available tools without executing them. Compare that list with your handoff, then run the agreed read-only test. If discovery succeeds but the test fails, record the tool name and error stage rather than repeatedly reconnecting.
If there is no authentication field#
Some clients support only a specific OAuth connection flow. Others support custom headers only in a configuration file or a local bridge. Do not weaken the server authentication to make a client connect. DigLab must verify a supported route for that client before onboarding is complete.
For an illustrated configuration structure that prompts for a secret, see VS Code connection. For other applications, follow the configuration format in their current official documentation and have DigLab verify the result.
